Capheaton Hall Chapel Folly
Folly In Belsay, Northumberland
A folly ruin of an 18th century chapel in the grounds of Capheaton Hall.
If you're a cyclist in Northumberland then you will have undoubtedly stopped at the Capheaton Tea Room for cake and tea at some point (if not every ride!)
Just over the road is Capheaton Hall which are private grounds available to hire for wedding and events, but that's not what we are here for. As within the grounds is a little folly ruin of a Georgian chapel.
The grounds were designed by Capability Brown (that famous landscape architect chap who also designed other Northumberland grounds such as Hulne Park and Wallington), so he may have also designed this 18th century folly too.

You will only be able to get onto the grounds if you have hired the venue, however the hall recently had an open day and our new Fabulous North friend Kevin Pope popped through for a visit and took all of these lovely photos.

Thanks for checking out this place on the Fabulous North! I do enjoy a wander out in to the countryside trying to find hidden gems that not many people know about. You can't beat a rogue Pele tower up a remote hill or a mysterious stone circle or a stunning waterfall secluded in a forest.
