Ponteland Vicar's Pele
Tower In Ponteland, Northumberland
A ruined Vicar's Pele sitting on the main high street in Ponteland.
Situated on the main through road in Ponteland is a three storey Vicars Pele tower.
Standing on the site of a 13th century hall house, it's believed the south wing may have been rebuilt as the tower in the 14th to 15th century. It then became part of a vicarage before it was demolished in the 19th century.
There was still a small house attached to it, but this was removed in 1950 leaving the tower as what you see today.

Thanks for checking out this place on the Fabulous North! I do enjoy a wander out in to the countryside trying to find hidden gems that not many people know about. You can't beat a rogue Pele tower up a remote hill or a mysterious stone circle or a stunning waterfall secluded in a forest.
