This is the toposcope, which sits next to the Ben Lawers trig point (1214m) near Killin.

From the large Ben Lawers car park, take the path through the walled area that leads back to the road. Cross the road and follow the path into the Nature Reserve.

Continue on the path heading up Beinn Ghlas. When the path splits, the path to the right heads through the nature trail, whereas the left is the main path up Ben Lawers. Either can be used as they converge in just over 1km.

Continue on the path as it climbs the shoulder of Beinn Ghlas. The cairn marks your first munro of the day. Once you have had a rest, it is time to head up to the Ben Lawers trig point.

The trig point and the toposcope can be seen in the distance, keep on the path straight to the top.

The trig and toposcope sit on rocky outcrops with incredible views over Loch Tay and the surrounding mountains.

The area is abundant with wildlife and we had a close encounter with a Ptarmigan.

It is just under 6km with 900m of ascent to reach the Ben Lawers Trig Point.

Follow the above route, or find on OS Maps.

I have been a keen hill walker for many years and more recently enjoy trig bagging. When I'm not exploring Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire, I spend most of my holidays in bonny Scotland. Other than hills, I love investigating ruinous buildings and waterfalls. I have been a member of NT and EH for years, which also gives me access to Historic Environment Scotland places.
