Meall nan Each Trig Point & Ben Laga

This is the Meall nan Each trig point sitting on a rocky outcrop (490m) in Ardnamurchan.

From the parking area, head north east along the road. Ignore the first couple of driveways on your left, you will soon reach a tarmacked track on the left. Take the large wooden gate on the left.

The path climbs through woodland and the views soon open up behind you.

After passing through the woodland, continue on the path to reach another gate. Again go through the wooden gate and continue following the path.

As you continue, you will pass Ben Laga on the right and soon Meall nan Each comes into view to the left of the loch.

When the path branches, you need to head up grassy slopes keeping Leac an Fhidhleir to the left and the large craggy lump to the right.

The route is pathless, but there is a grassy sections between the many crags. Keep head north west until the trig point comes into view.

From the summit, there are views over the Sound of Arisaig to the north, Ben Resipol to the east.

If you are only bagging the trig point, then return by the same route. If you are feeling energetic and don't want to miss out on the fantastic Ben Laga, then head back down to the path before heading up the next hill.

As you head back down to the path, Ben Laga is in front of you.

You start your ascent by heading south easterly up the steep grassy slopes, keeping to the left of the large rocky outcrop and scree.

When the ground levels off a bit, turn right to head south towards the summit of Ben Laga.

When you reach the lochan, you can see the summit cairn on the opposite side.

Head left to walk around the lochan in a clockwise direction.

As you reach the eastern side of the lochan, the views east over Loch Sunart open up.

From here you can see the small scramble to reach the summit cairn.

All of the effort is well worth while, with a stunning views in all directions.

Once you have enjoyed the summit views, continue around the lochan until you are at it's western side.

At this point head west down the grassy slopes between the crags. It is quite steep and hard work, but the main path will soon come into view.

Follow the route path down to your starting point.

It is 4.15km with 474m of ascent to reach the summit of Meall nan Each only.

If you are completing the whole route, you are looking at 10km with 730m of ascent.
