This is the Ballencrieff Hill trig point (312m) near Bathgate. It is also know as Cairnpapple Hill, however the neighbouring hill with the large burial cairn is Cairnpapple Hill. It is also a Marilyn category hill.
Parking for Ballencrieff Hill trig point is next to The Knock. It is well worth the short climb before you set out to bag your trig.
After visiting The Knock, walk down to the road. Cross the road and walk north for a short distance, before entering the field on the left containing the trig point.
Follow the faint ATV tracks for a short distance before taking the fainter right fork heading southwest. This takes you straight up to the trig point.
You have great views back over to The Knock and surrounding coutryside.
