The Linn of Ruthrie Falls are tucked away behind the town of Aberlour.
They are located just under 1km from where the Burn of Aberlour meets the River Spey.

To get to the falls, you could just walk up the high street, then up the path that leads to the falls. However, it is worth the short detour to enjoy a few other sites.
Start on the high street and take the road to the left of the church.

This will take you to the riverside park which has a visitors centre in the former railway station.

Follow the riverside path south west, passing the Victoria Bridge.
The path then passes the Aberlour Graveyard, with the ruins of the former parish church of St Drostan and the Macpherson Grant Mausoleum.
Follow the path as it turns left heading up the burn, passing the old packhorse bridge.

When you reach the main road, cross over. If you like your whisky, I can recommend a nice Aberlour single malt and the building is pretty special too.
The path then continues up the left hand side of the Burn of Aberlour.

There is a good path through the woodland and within 600m you will reach the Linn of Ruthrie Falls.

It is an beautiful 2km walk to the Falls.

I have been a keen hill walker for many years and more recently enjoy trig bagging. When I'm not exploring Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire, I spend most of my holidays in bonny Scotland. Other than hills, I love investigating ruinous buildings and waterfalls. I have been a member of NT and EH for years, which also gives me access to Historic Environment Scotland places.
