That Boat
Art In Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland
A driftwood sculpture of a boat situated on the banks of the River Tweed in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Just beyond the Royal Border Bridge in Berwick Upon Tweed is a driftwood sculpture located on the banks of the River Tweed.
It has the simple name of That Boat and was started by local artist Lee Mace in 2016. It's still an ongoing project and has become a well known landmark in the area.

That Boat is constructed entirely from driftwood collected along the Tweed coastline and is a nod to Berwick Upon Tweed's maritime heritage. In recognition of his artistic contribution, Lee Mace was awarded the Berwick Rotary Club's Jubilee Trophy in July 2018.
The sculpture is still evolving with additions and tweaks made periodically, so each visit offers a different experience.
Check out Lee in action adding a driftwood beam to the sculpture.

Thanks for checking out this place on the Fabulous North! I do enjoy a wander out in to the countryside trying to find hidden gems that not many people know about. You can't beat a rogue pele tower up a remote hill, a mysterious stone circle or a stunning waterfall secluded in a forest.
