Harthope Linn
Waterfall In The Cheviots, Northumberland
A secluded waterfall and plunge pool in the Harthope Valley next to The Cheviot.
There's a canny few ways of ascending The Cheviot and my new favourite way is by following a burn up to the top. I have done the Hen Hole and Bizzle Crags, but this time I fancied heading up via the Harthope Burn.
I had the added bonus that this would allow me to find the Harthope Linn Waterfall.
The Harthope Linn Waterfall is hidden away and a little bit of a scramble to get down to, so go canny. You can find its exact location using the map and what3words below.

Once done, head back on to the track following the Harthope Burn west along the valley.
But the Harthope Burn wasn't done there. Just after a bend in the burn I saw another little waterfall.

Having Googled Harthope Linn waterfall before I ventured here, I realised this was the waterfall that most people mistakenly took for Harthope Linn which is actually another 300m further along. It doesn't have a name though, but was still a cool little find.

If you fancy finding both of these waterfalls, then from the parking at Langleeford, just head south west along the valley floor and then onto the permissive path. You will need to duck off the track as you approach Harthope Linn Waterfall and peek through the trees. Don't worry, just follow the sound of rushing water.
Follow the route above or open it in OS Maps.
The second waterfall is just a 5 minute walk further along and you can't miss it as you will be following the Harthope Burn.

Thanks for checking out this place on the Fabulous North! I do enjoy a wander out in to the countryside trying to find hidden gems that not many people know about. You can't beat a rogue pele tower up a remote hill, a mysterious stone circle or a stunning waterfall secluded in a forest.
