Rosie's Waterfall

Waterfall In Newton Stewart, Scotland

Picturesque waterfall in the heart of Galloway Forest.

You may have spotted that we have covered a few places within Galloway Forest and if you're a fan of a waterfall, you are spoiled for choice.

Rosie's Waterfall is situated on the Grey Mare's Tail Burn, slightly higher up from Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall itself. It's a slightly easier hike to Rosie's Waterfall, but you're still in for a spectacular sight when you get there.

It was fairly boggy and rocky to get to the waterfall, so wellies or walking boots are needed. Many people would recommend this as a good place for a wild swim, but I wasn't brave enough to try - take care on the rocks if you do!

Sadly there is little to no information on this waterfall and who Rosie was, let us know if you are Rosie and this is your waterfall.

Check out Murray's Monument and Quorum - The Stone Faces which are in the vicinity too.

I love the great outdoors and have been a National Trust & English Heritage member for years. I also love going off the beaten track and finding places like Sharp's Folly or Rothley Castle which are hidden gems in Northumberland. My favourite recent hike was climbing Red Screes in the Lake District on a whim, not fully grasping how high 776m was. It was still an achievement to conquer a Wainwright walk and I hope to do more one day.
