Made in Hartlepool - Artwork by Durham Spray Paints

Lewis Hobson AKA Durham Spray Paints has a super exhibition in Hartlepool Art Gallery which is an amazing old church. It lasts until the 6th September 2025 and is free. You can expect the unexpected, as well as a professional arrangement of exhibits.

I would suggest the title Made In Hartlepool is about Durham Spray Paints 'coming of age' and was the dawning of an exciting new era for both artist and the town.
Lewis is known for many impressive murals throughout the area, such as at Hartlepool's Headland. There are also more creations found on our collections page Durham Spray Paints.

You can see how wall art envolves with a living graffiti wall. You can even add to it!

Lewis created a lot of intrigue when the head of the Angel of the North was wheeled through the streets of Hartlepool to the Art Gallery. People were wondering what it was/how the angel's head could have fallen off. You'll have to go and have a look to find out!

Lewis commented that the oxidised work is created using a graffiti skill of etching onto the metal, and when spray-painted, it is impossible to remove. These works have not been painted.

His painting equipment and clothing are arty as well. Take a look.
