This is the Cairnoch Hill trig point sitting above the Carron Valley Reservoir (413m) near Kilsyth.
From the parking area, head south east. You pass Sir John de Graham's Castle, it is worth stopping and having a look at what is left of the castle.
From the castle head south east along the track. Take a sharp left turn into the forest. Follow the track as it winds through the forest, taking the right turn, heading steeply up hill.
The track emerges from the forest and the views open out over the Carron Valley Reservoir.
When you reach the end of the forest on the left, make your way up the side of the forest on a faint path running alongside the trees. This section is a little steep and the ground is rough.
There are lots of little paths that run up to the trig point, just head for the highest ground.
We did this during Storm Kathleen, not for the faint hearted and the reason there are not many photos.
I welcome any donations of better photo's that I can use.
It is just over 4km with 200m of ascent to the trig point.

I have been a keen hill walker for many years and more recently enjoy trig bagging. When I'm not exploring Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire, I spend most of my holidays in bonny Scotland. Other than hills, I love investigating ruinous buildings and waterfalls. I have been a member of NT and EH for years, which also gives me access to Historic Environment Scotland places.
