This is the Menteith Hill trig point on the Craig of Monievreckie on the Menteith Hills (400m) near Aberfoyle.
From the Braeval Car Park on the A81, head north on the path that cuts through the woods.
When you meet the large track, turn right to head north east. After a short distance, take a left turn now heading north west. Stay on this track, ignoring the right turn.
Keep on this track, ignoring the two left forks, as it winds uphill.
Just before the track comes to a junction, turn right at the old fence line. Keeping the fence line off to the left, try and find the easiest ground heading north east. The ground is quite challenging on this section.
Continue for around 0.5km, until the old fence changes direction heading south east. Continue over the difficult tussocky heathery ground.
Keep an eye out to the left, for a faint path that makes the final ascent to the trig. At least the views made up for the effort.
We attempted to come down by a more direct route which was a huge mistake, I would definitely recommend coming down the same way.
It is 3.5km with 370m of ascent to the trig point.
It's a little tough this one!

I have been a keen hill walker for many years and more recently enjoy trig bagging. When I'm not exploring Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire, I spend most of my holidays in bonny Scotland. Other than hills, I love investigating ruinous buildings and waterfalls. I have been a member of NT and EH for years, which also gives me access to Historic Environment Scotland places.
