St. Abbs
Landscape In Eyemouth, Borders
A quaint little fishing village set around old fishermen's cottages and spectacular jagged cliffs - Also twinned with New Asgard!
We're back just over the border again tonight and we're going to be shamefully honest and say the only reason we orignally visited here was because it was a film location for the Avengers movie.
Welcome to St. Abbs twinned with New Asgard.
Just North of Eyemouth, this quaint little fishing village is set around old fishermen's cottages and spectacular jagged cliffs. After you have parked, head up to the cliffside path for amazing views of the harbour and continue along for even more stunning clifftop views.
The village was originally known as Coldingham Shore, the name St Abbs being adopted in the 1890s. The new name was derived from St Abb's Head, a rocky promontory located to the north of the village, itself named after the 7th century saint Æbbe of Coldingham. (Source - Wikipedia).
Let's go on a wander.
Some amazing rock formations jutting out of the water just off the shore.
Arrived at the view point.
Heading over to the cliffs in the distance.
Ooooh, I wonder if you can climb onto that?
I spy a little path.
It was at this point that Jayne (my glamorous assistant - sorry I am legally obliged to say that whenever I mention her) left to go looking for Chris Hemsworth, so I had an adventure to the end of that grassy cliff on the right.
Little bit of a scramble down the slope and the path ahead looks worringly narrow.
I made it! Amazing views from here.
Better start heading back.
And we're back to safety.
Back into the village and a little pootle around the harbour.
Another little narrow path coming up, but the views were worth it.
Now that I have overwhelmed you with photos on a little virtual tour, here are some fun facts.
We have already mentioned that some of Avengers: End Game was filmed here and Harry Styles (the lad from One Direction) also recorded a music video at St Abbs too.
It's also a very popular site for scuba diving with clear waters and spectacular underwater scenery.
The HMS Pathfinder was the first Royal Navy ship to be sunk by a German U-boat on 5 September 1914.
Hope you enjoyed the tour and thank you St Abbs for amazing scenery. Love you 3000!

Thanks for checking out this place on the Fabulous North! I do enjoy a wander out in to the countryside trying to find hidden gems that not many people know about. You can't beat a rogue pele tower up a remote hill, a mysterious stone circle or a stunning waterfall secluded in a forest.
