This is Arthur's Seat trig point (251m) in Edinburgh, Scotland. One of the busiest trig points I've ever visited!

From Holyrood Car Park head east along the pavement. Instead of turning right uphill, continue along the pavement for a short detour to St Margaret's Loch.

The remains of St Anthony's Chapel are visible across the loch. After enjoying the views and wildlife, retrace your steps and turn left uphill towards the chapel remains.

There are great views over the Firth of Forth in one direction and towards Holyrood Palace and Calton Hill in the other direction.

Once you have visited the chapel, head south along the path that climbs gently between the slopes of Dry Dam and Long Row.

There are many paths heading to the right that will take you to the summit. Take your pick.

The final section involves a bit of a scramble on the rocky outcrop, please be careful especially if it has been wet.

I had no hope of having the trig point or the toposcope to myself, so I had to make do.

After all, Arthur's Seat has over 5 million visitors each year, all coming to enjoy the stunning views.

From the trig point, the views over the toposcope of Allermuir Hill and The Pentland Hills are beautiful.

From the toposcope, the views over the Firth of Forth are stunning. Berwick Law and beyond are visible on a clear day.
