This is the Glas Moal trig point (1068m) near the Glenshee Ski Centre in the Cairngorms.

The starting point for the Glas Moal trig point is the large car park approximately 0.5km south of the Glenshee Ski Centre. Make sure you park near the start of the path, otherwise you will add an unnecessary 1km onto your hike.

The path heads north east and is steep from the outset. As the path continues steeply uphill, it bends to head south east.

The path eventually levels for a short period providing great view back over The Cairnwell and showing the path ahead of you.

Pass the cairn next to the path, continuing up the large track running past the ski run and buildings.

You will soon reach the pile of stones that marks the Munro Top Meall Odhar at 922m.

From here you have a level section before it heads steeply up to the plateau.

Once you reach the plateau, keep heading south east and the wind shelter will soon come into view.

The views of the surrounding mountains are fantastic, with the Cairngorm plateau to the north west and Beinn a Ghlo and the Lawers range to the south west.

It is 3.2km to the trig point with 440m of ascent.

I have been a keen hill walker for many years and more recently enjoy trig bagging. When I'm not exploring Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire, I spend most of my holidays in bonny Scotland. Other than hills, I love investigating ruinous buildings and waterfalls. I have been a member of NT and EH for years, which also gives me access to Historic Environment Scotland places.
