From the layby head west down the road a short way, until you see the bridleway on the right.
Head up the bridleway, through a gate and look out for a gate on the right.
Go through this gate and head up the faint track straight up the hill. This leads straight to the trig point.
This route is approximately 1km with 130m of ascent.
