This is Skid Hill Trig Point (186m) near Haddington.

From the gate of the quarry, head right through a field and weave through the gorse towards the outcrop and fence.

It is a reasonably steep climb through the gorse but zig-zagging makes it much easier.

Rather than heading up to the fence, follow a faint path to the right that gently climbs around the north side of the hill.

You will pass trig point, which is on the steep outcrop above, you need to continue contouring around the hill until you reach a more level grassy area and the fence comes into view.

The trig sits at the top of a steep quarry cliff. However, there is a fence for safety.

There is a great view from the trig, to the neighbouring Hopetoun Monument.

On a clear day North Berwick Law and Bass Rock are visible to the NE.

The route to the trig point is just under 0.5km with 60m of ascent.

I have been a keen hill walker for many years and more recently enjoy trig bagging. When I'm not exploring Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire, I spend most of my holidays in bonny Scotland. Other than hills, I love investigating ruinous buildings and waterfalls. I have been a member of NT and EH for years, which also gives me access to Historic Environment Scotland places.
